Why These Changes Matter for You
Every July the NDIA refreshes the pricing rules. This year brings bigger-than-usual tweaks: a wage-linked 3.95 % rise for support workers, therapy price realignments, and new rules on how your funding is released. Understanding them now stops nasty surprises later and could even unlock extra sessions or lower out-of-pocket costs.
Key Changes Explained
New 2025–26 Price Guide
- Support worker hourly caps rise 3.95 %.
- Physiotherapy cap decreases to $183.99/hr (-$10).
- Psychology cap increases to $232.99/hr (+$10).
- Plan-management establishment fee removed.
Automatic Plan Indexation on 13 July
No phone calls needed—your active plan balance will refresh automatically so you can afford the new wage-adjusted rates.
Split Funding Periods
New or reassessed plans issued after 19 May come with quarterly funding drops. Same total budget, but you need to pace spending.
Registered Support Coordinators Only
From 1 July, only registered Support Coordinators can be paid from NDIS funds. Ask for their registration ID or search the NDIS provider register.
New Rights to Choose Plan Manager & Variations
March 2025 rule changes let you nominate a specific plan manager and request variations at any time.
Step-by-Step Action Checklist
- Note your plan review date and whether indexation will apply.
- Download the new budget planner and enter your current balances.
- Meet your Support Coordinator / Plan Manager to rebalance service bookings.
- Update service bookings in the myplace portal (see screenshots below).
- Verify every provider's registration status before July.
- Plan big purchases across funding periods—use quarterly caps wisely.
Case Studies
John's Extra Physio Session
John had $2,000 set aside for physio. The $10/hr rate drop means he can now buy 10 extra sessions a year. His coordinator adjusted his service booking so the funds stay in Core Supports.
Maria Budgets Quarterly
Maria's new plan issues funds every 3 months. She and her mum created a simple spreadsheet (download above) to ensure personal-care hours stretch evenly until her holiday in November.
